This takes place in a world not too different from our own. It has countries, cities and different religions and people, just like we have. Only thing that do differ is that, during the night, none is outside. Every country has decided to work together against a common enemy. Despite that they talk different languages they all have one goal. Too survive. In this world the humans live in terror of the night. There isn’t one night no human life isn’t taken, in best case killed. They try anything to survive. So much that so called ‘slayers’ is better paid than the doctors. The slayers are a special type of police officers but they don’t solve regular crimes. Instead they hunt for the creatures of the night.
Most humans have moved into the modern cities for better protection. Only a few lives in the cities founded during the middle ages. One of those cities could be found high up in the mountains. It had electricity and running water and every other modernity so in a way it was a modern city but in an old package. The wall around it as well as the houses inside of the wall was made out of grey, red or white granite. Despite being build so long time ago this city were still standing. Thanks to its remote location very few of the nights dangers have managed to find it or stay for long. The city had a special type of gem, a so called Blood Stone, that half protected the city. In one of the houses, the one closest to the Blood Stone temple, lived the priestess and her only daughter. The house it self were built of red and white granite with marble gargoyles that served as protection. The priestess was named Chidi. She had short, black hair, green eyes and had a lean figure. She lived to protect the Blood Stone from any type of harm, like all other priestess’ had done before her. And like tradition said when the priestess got old she would train up a new girl to take her place. Chidi had broken the tradition since she wanted a child of her own. But she didn’t get married and many men wanted to give her what she wanted. She choose one man, loyal to protect the Blood Stone him self, to be the father of her child. Nine month later a baby girl was born. But both parents got confused. As both the priestess and the man had black hair they expected the baby to have black hair as well. Only when they saw her they noticed that she had white hair, almost like silver. They saw this as a sign that times would change, for better or worse none could tell yet. And the little girl didn’t mind now, she just wanted to be loved by her parents like every other child. She had silver like hair and dark eyes, a sign that she would have the fate of the entire town on her shoulders as she got older. ~**~ Twenty years later ~**~ Being raised to be the next priestess Aina walked to the Blood Stone. Chidi had named the child Aina since she knew the child would always protect the city. And despite the years have passed nothing strange had happened. But on this, her twentieth birthday, her life would change forever. The whole town decorated with bright colours and flags. Everyone wanted to celebrate their silver haired beauty. Aina got dressed in red, black and silver. She got a black dress in satin with silver stitches and a silver cross on the front. Around her waist a blood red silk ribbon was tied, also a red silk ribbon became tied into her silver hair. She looked like a princess more than the next priestess to the Blood Stone temple. Her eyes had remained dark, like the eyes of a deer and her skin was very pale. She also looked underfed and people said that the paleness was because she had anaemia, meaning too little blood in her body. But she ate like a horse and could most often be seen eating on something. A fruit, candy or a hamburger. But for this occasion she would eat true feast food. She looked at herself in the mirror and smiled at her own reflection. Everyone thought she looked very cute, like a doll, but she wasn’t tiny. She was tall and lean like her mother. She spun around in front of the mirror and smiled at herself. This would be the most notable birthday she would ever have. Just as she stood and spun like she did she would feel something inside of her. Like something wanted out. She gasped out and had to sit down as her head spun around. She had never felt dizzy before in her life. Not like this. Her mother came in and saw her daughter sit with her head in her hands. Worried she walked over and felt over her forehead. No she didn’t have fever or any sign that she was ill. She thought it was just a sign that she was nervous and left her daughter in her room. The evening came and Aina walked down to meet the cheering crowd. They all loved Aina for that she had a huge heart. Only this evening she didn’t feel well and half way thought the dinner feast she felt faint and excused herself before she went to her room. As she passed the mirror she gasped out and spun around. The dark shadows had seemed to move in an unnatural way. As her eyes became used to the dim light she thought she could see a shape in the darkness. “Who are you?” she asked to the dark shadow. It didn’t speak but came out from the darkness. At first it didn’t have a shape at all but as it came out in the light she could see the shape of a female. This female had on a black evening dress in a Renaissance style with tiny silver buckles. Her face had a sharp yet smooth frame with high cheek bones and tiny, blood red lips. Her eyes were narrow with long black eyelashes, the same color her hair had, raven black that maybe reached down her waist; now however it was tied up in a hard knot at the back of her head. She smirked somewhat as she got even closer to Aina and reached out a slim, not bony, hand toward her. The first reaction Aina got was to frown back in fear. But as she felt the very strong emotion she could also feel another thing. For some reason her head felt even dizzier and the blood was pumping in her ears till she could almost not hear a thing. She held her hands over her ears and screamed out from the pain. It was something she hasn’t felt before in her life. The throbbing in her ears from the blood flowing inside her veins, it was almost too much for her to bare and she got down on her knees still holding her head, she wanted the pain to go away if she so would scratch off her ears. She gasped as she felt her nose bleed. With that some relive came from the extreme pressure, but it was far from enough and what she needed. The woman from the shadows smirked as she saw Aina go down for the count screaming out like a pig. Very slowly she walked over to the screaming girl and placed a hand on her shoulder ever so lightly. She knew of her special ability and just wanted her to feel it for the first time. The scent of blood was strong for the girl now. As if the woman were facing a crowd of fully grown humans just waiting to be killed. Yet this strong scent came from this single girl alone. She smirked even more as she let one sharp nail run alongside her shoulder and up to the soft neck where the vein were throbbing from the extra blood. Waiting to be bitten and drained. “My little girl. You poor thing. You have no idea what I have in mind for you. But be sure none will ever look after you more than I have.” The woman said to Aina. But she couldn’t hear it. The throbbing in her ears made her close to deaf and she screamed out in pain again. The woman smirked and stroke Aina over her silver hair and let her slim finger feel over the silk like hair. The blood scent from the girl stood like a cloud around her, a blood red cloud. She licked her lips and her tongue felt over the fangs that had started to grow. An even larger smirk, horrible due to the now long fangs, grew in the woman’s face. “Little one, poor little human, want me to relive you from the pain your blood causes you?” she asked her while her finger moved down behind her hear, followed the jaw line down to her slender neck where the blood could be felt pulsating under the soft skin. Aina felt the others finger over her skin and the touch made her shiver. But it didn’t help to get the throbbing away from her head. Her nose bleed still flowed out of her nose and a puddle had started to be formed on the floor below her. The woman bends down close to her ear now and let her tongue run over the earlobe and down over the neck. Her fangs grew to maximum as they trace over the neck, the skin where the blood flowed under. Aina knew that she needed the help from the vampire lady in order to stay alive yet she couldn’t do a thing to show that she wanted the vampire to drain her. Yet the vampire seemed to know, know that she wanted to be bitten. “As you wish.” She said and moved her fangs over the soft, silk skin before she found a perfect place to bite. Just where the neck met the shoulder, where the blood vessel lay close to the skin and you could see the pumping blood vessel. Very slowly her fangs penetrated the skin and made Aina gasp out from the sudden pain in her neck. It felt like a snake bite only the fangs penetrated not only the skin but the blood vessel as well. Then came the rush of blood. The vampire seemed content as she slowly slit up the wound some more to drink. Usually it would be enough with only two puncture wounds in the neck but in this case the vampire needed a large bite mark to manage to draw all the blood out from Aina. She felt pain from the wound and tried to struggle against the woman but to no help. The vampire held Aina in a steady grip around her neck while the other arm held around her waist. From afar it would seem like they were lovers in the way the vampire held her in what looked to be a soft embrace. The drinking itself didn’t take too long. After just ten minutes the vampire let go of Aina and licked the wound clean again. She couldn’t help but kiss Aina on the cheek afterword and pat her head. Very slowly she let Aina rest on the bed and moved back into the darkness of the shadows, leaving the girl confused and little scared over what had happened. This situation was totally new to her, a vampire had come into her room, had managed to pass the Blood Stone and get into her very own room and not only had she spoken to her she had also bitten and fed of her. Scared she moved her hand over the bite wound but couldn’t find anything that showed that she had been bitten. “Mmm…you taste really good you know that.” The vampire said and looked at Aina. She looked back at the vampire in the shadows. Scared still, her eyes fixed on the figure of the shadows. She tried to speak but no words came out of her mouth. The vampire just smirked at her before she turned her back at her and disappeared back into the shadows; Aina thought she said something but she couldn’t hear it. Her mind was filled with the thoughts of having her blood drained for the first time. She had never had thought it would feel this way nor did she think she would have liked it so much. To have the blood pressure being reduced so much in just a short amount of time. She looked up at the shadow again. There was nothing there but she knew, the vampire lady hadn’t left this place, nor would she leave any time soon. “Happy birthday by the way.” Came a voice from all around her. It was as if the air it self had said it. “This is the start of your new life.” It continued. Scared she gasped some. Would she turn into a vampire her self? No, no that can’t be. Aina shook her head to get rid of those thoughts. She didn’t want to think of how it would be to be a creature of the night. With tears in her eyes she looked up at the shadows in a begging manner. She didn’t want to turn into a vampire. “No you silly little girl.” The voice said. “You belong to a new type of human. A type that can’t be turned to a vampire; not even if you are bitten by a pure blood. And you will never run dry of blood. A perfect new human breed for us vampires. Expect me to come here soon again.” The air said before it left her. The lights seemed to become brighter again after the presence had left the room, as if the lights and air it self had held their breath for the vampire lady. Shaky still Aina stood up from the floor still holding her neck. This had scared her much and she hoped the vampire lady would stay away. And yet in a way she wanted to see her again. Her body wanted to feel the sharp fangs in her neck again, to have the blood drained once more. Very slowly she walked over to the door and opened it again. The sound of voices from below could once again be heard. Neither sounded happy or cheerful anymore. They were all worried about Aina and why she had left so suddenly. Worried that she might be ill or worse. “Are you okay?” Chidi asked her as she saw her daughter come down from the stairs slowly. Aina just nodded and walked over to her mother and hugged her, happy to still be alive, but also little scared over what will happen now. Will she take the word of the vampire that she wouldn’t turn or would she turn still? She had no idea right now. Mother and daughter looked at each other and smiled lightly. There were still a party down stairs and many still wanted to give Aina their best wishes of a long and good life. They took each others hands and walked down the stairs. “Mom…I have a thing I must say to you.” Aina said little worried. “Yes what is it?” “I met a vampire, in my room. She was a real vampire lady and she told me that I was a new type of human. That I can never run dry of blood; nor that I can turn to a vampire. She also said that I would see her again.” Chidi looked at her daughter worried now. She placed a hand on her shoulder and tried to comfort her daughter in the best way she could. “My dear. I have always known you would become a special human some day.” She started but then sighed. “…but…if what you say is the truth, and if the vampire told you the truth; this could mean that we will have much trouble in the future. Every vampire in the world would hear of you and your ability and would come here. The extreme pressure from all the vampires and other blood suckers would be too much on the Blood Stone. It would break and then the city wouldn’t be protected anymore. Everyone would be exposed to the vampires. Add to that that we lack slayers and the only slayers available live many hours away it could mean disaster to our city.” She looked at Aina with a sad look on her face now and held her tight. “My dear daughter.” She said and kissed her on the head. Aina knew what this meant all too well. What she had been born to become and revealed it self on her twentieth birthday. The Blood Stone had chosen her to be a new type of food for the vampires, a whole new type of human. The type that would never run dry of blood and would never be able to be turned to a vampire. She knew that this would mean that every vampire clan all over the world would go to war and that she was the grand price. That she had turned from be a temple priestess in training to become the Holy Grail for the vampires. “We must warn everyone.” She said. “That the vampires will go to war now. The war we have all heard off, the great Vampire Blood war. All because of me.” She sighed sadly and hung her head. Chidi saw her daughter and placed a hand on her shoulder. With a small smile she watched her sad daughter. They had heard about the great Vampire Blood war, the humans of old had told that once day every vampire clan would go to a great war that would determent the future of the humans. But they haven’t been able to say when this war would happen. Now it seemed like it would begin and the humans would be mere pawns in a huge game of chess where the winner got the one human to start and create a whole new species of humans. She also knew that whoever had a city with these humans would be invincible and superior to all the other vampire clans. “I must have to send you away. Tomorrow morning we must go to the large cities and tell everyone to get ready. It won’t be long before every vampire knows about this. The great Vampire Blood war has come.” Chidi said. Aina nodded. She knew about the story as well. All too well and now she had turned from a simple temple priestess in training to be the Holy Grail for every vampire out there. She looked up at her mother again and smiled faintly. She had always wished to be someone important, but she didn’t want to be important in this way. She didn’t want to be the one to hold the future of the humans on her shoulders. Mother and daughter went down to greet the guests again. One dressed in a forest green dress with golden details and navy blue ribbon around her wait and in her hair and the other in a black dress with silver details and a red ribbon around her waist and in her hair. Both now faced a new turn in life and every decision they did could mean either the destruction or savoir of mankind. |
